JANUARY FOR JESSE
In January of 2021 the Beacon tragically lost a member of our team, Jesse Van Roon, in a snowboarding accident on Whistler mountain. Jesse was an employee at the Beacon for five years, always quick to greet guests with a flashy smile and a laugh. He was an active member of the Whistler community, he loved the outdoors and was always up for an adventure. He could usually be found in line for first chair at Creekside gondola for every powder day. His fun loving sense of humour and positive attitude towards life will be forever missed by his family and friends.
This January, the Beacon would like to honour Jesse with “January for Jesse”, a month long initiative to give back to the hard working folks who keep us safe on the mountains everyday. For the entire month of January, guests are able to “buy a beer for a patroller” where they can pay it forward by adding a Beacon beer to their bill which will go directly towards the Whistler Blackcomb Ski Patrol team.
In addition to this, the Beacon is also hosting a fundraiser on January 31st for the non for profit organization, the Whistler Search and Rescue Society (WSAR). We hope that you can join us on this date where we will have a silent auction with amazing local prizes. All proceeds from the auction as well as a selection of drinks will be going towards WSAR.
